ISI is a leading provider of high quality foreign language translation and localization in over 100 languages.
We have been in business since 1982 and have impeccable references from a blue-chip roster of clients. ISI provides services to a wide variety of industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, software, financial services, public relations, advertising and marketing.
We have extensive experience in the area of technical translation and localization of user manuals, MSDS, web pages, marketing/advertising copy, and on-line documentation. We work in various software platforms and with most desktop and web publishing programs. We offer technical support for all languages including double-byte Asian characters such as Chinese and Japanese. ISI can even provide Braille transcription.
As part of our robust QA processes, professional linguists (who often have extensive subject-specific experience) translate the material initially, which is then followed by a 2nd review by equally-credentialed editors. Translators are native-speakers and professional linguists with extensive university-level training ensuring the most accurate terminology. In addition to our global services, ISI is a leader in translation services for non- and limited-English-proficient speakers in the United States. These linguistic teams work closely with our clients when selecting appropriate terminology for a U.S.-based audience.
We provide certified and registered interpreters, including sign language interpreters, for depositions, insurance statements, medicals, vocational rehab, telephone conferences, and court appearances. We also provide simultaneous conference interpreters and wireless equipment for meetings and public hearings.
Our language solutions are tailored to each client and individual project.

TRANSLATION
ISI translates any form of written material – from detailed technical manuals and software localization to advertising copy and websites – covering all languages and all subjects.
ISI provides high-quality, boutique-style service – combining the latest technology with expert human touch at every stage. Each client and every project is overseen by a single point of contact – the project manager – who often holds advanced degrees in translation and is intimately involved at every stage.
Our translators are native-speakers with university-level and subject-specific proficiency to ensure a written translation that is as precise as the original document. Each translation also is edited by an equally skilled, second team to ensure accuracy, consistency and flow.
- All translators are trained in grammar, terminology, punctuation, hyphenation, syntax and spelling in both the source and target languages.
- Translators are familiar with subject-specific vocabulary, and they understand how best to translate (and often navigate) colloquialisms, idioms and slang.
- Editors and proofreaders also are professional translators, with the same specialized language and cultural understanding.
- Desktop publishers and graphic designers understand the typesetting requirements and challenges when dealing with foreign language fonts.
ISI significantly reduces costs and streamlines productivity by subscribing to the most advanced computer-aided translation tools on the market.
Compliance & Security
ISI specializes in providing language services for two of the most regulated and security-conscious industries around – healthcare and financial services. So every procedure – from email to data storage, project management to employee hiring – ensures that client data is secure and translations are in full compliance with HIPAA, PHI, Title VI, CLAS and SB853 requirements.
ISI’s Web-based project management portal has an SSL-Certificate added (https:) and is as secure as a bank’s website, meeting the most stringent privacy, encryption and security requirements. The portal enables fast upload and download of huge files that email can’t handle – and it’s faster, more reliable and far more secure than file transfer protocol (FTP).
Training & Assessments
ISI offers the industry’s original Interpreter Training & Assessment Program (ITAP).
ITAP is a Web-based program that helps identify, screen and improve the skills of bilingual staff members and volunteers at medical facilities throughout the United States, so they can serve as ad hoc interpreters as needed. ITAP helps healthcare facilities meet the linguistic and cultural requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, Health Care Reform, JCAHO and state regulations.
Beyond compliance, ITAP helps healthcare organizations improve overall quality of care and limited-English proficiency (LEP) patient compliance with medical instructions, through more accurate and culturally relevant communications.
ISI’s ITAP is one of the only such programs in the country able to test for any language, including English. It consists of four modules that may be implemented as a whole or individually according to need:
- Language Proficiency Assessment
- Building Cultural Competency Workshop
- Medical Terminology Workshop
Medical Interpreting Ethics and Protocol Workshop
Communicare
ISI helps healthcare organizations improve overall quality of care and limited-English proficiency (LEP) patient compliance with medical instructions, through more accurate and culturally relevant communications. The ISI CommuniCare division offers a series of culturally and linguistically appropriate (CLAS) solutions that have been used throughout the United States since 1990. We offer a full suite of solutions including translation services, foreign language graphics, professional interpreters, interpreter training and assessment, medical terminology workshops, cultural audits, cultural competency and skills building workshops.
There are a variety of federal and state regulations that call for cultural competency in some form, medical interpreters and medical translations: JCAHO, HIPAA, SB 853, Title VI, OSHA, OMH, CLAS, etc. At this time there are no national standards, although there are a growing number of groups that are responding to the need for standardization.
We also offer an Interpreter Training & Assessment program (ITAP) that helps identify, screen and improve the skills of bilingual staff members and volunteers at medical facilities throughout the United States, so they can serve as ad hoc interpreters on an as needed basis. ITAP helps healthcare facilities meet the linguistic and cultural requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, Health Care Reform, JCAHO and state regulations.
